Since the start of 2020 Amanda Sperber has been conducting an investigation for NBC in Kenya. She travelled to Mozambique on assignment with The Weather Channel for her continued coverage of the impact of Cyclone Idai, which ravaged the southern African nation last year. She’s also been covering the coronavirus pandemic and related police brutality in East Africa for Vogue, The Guardian, Foreign Policy and Al Jazeera. She wrote about press freedom in Somalia and mental health in South Sudan for South Africa’s Mail & Guardian. She is still investigating U.S. military operations in Somalia.
